The hummingbird invokes lightness of being and being more present. They also signify independence. Lotus flowers were used in this design, the lotus has been described as "beauty which can thrive even in mud". I am a native Californian and the hummingbird has also had a special place in my heart. The pendant is cast of fine silver 99% pure and is marked on the back "LUMIA .990" It is a limited edition piece of 100, and you will receive a numbered certificate of authenticity with it. It weighs 6.44gm .990 silver and measures approximately 1 1/8" in diameter. The process for making this pendant is long: It is 1)designed by Margaret, 2)cast in fine silver 99%, 3)painted with powder glass several times with multiple colors and 4)kiln fired to approximately 1400 degrees after each application. Then it is 5)hand sanded with 10 different grits of sand paper designed for glass and 6)finally polished. This pendant comes on a 1.5mm Rhodium plated sterling silver chain 16".
